The room overlooks the prestigious Orto de Medici Garden, where at the end of the 15th century Lorenzo de Medici, "the Magnificent", established a school for young sculptors, recognised as the first Art Academy in Europe. Among the first students there was Michelangelo Buonarroti, who learnt here the artistic techniques, which made possible for him to create, just a few years after, such masterpieces as the David or the Pietà.
